The barn door handles are made up of more than one piece. There are two handles that go to each side of the door. The latch of the door through which the two handles and two. Or more screws that hold everything in place are joined. The screws are usually located on the side of the door towards the interior of a house or room. The placement of the screws on this side of the door means that an intruder does not take a screwdriver. And then, remove the door handle from the outside.
Open the door and unscrew the screws that hold the door handle together 1/2 inch at a time. Hold the door handles firmly to the door and then turn on one of the controllers as if opening the door. At the end of the twist, separate the handles and see how they come free from each other. Unscrew the two screws of the door latch.

Place the end of the screwdriver through the latch of the door where the shaft of the door handle was removed so that it extends to the other side of the door. Grasp the handle of the screwdriver in one hand and the tip of the screwdriver in the other. Face the edge of the door and pull both ends of the screwdriver until the door latch comes out of the locking hole.
